Your Website Post Launch
Website Maintenance
Congratulations on your new website! We are as excited to see how your new website will help grow your business as much as you are! We at 5by5 do as much as we can to make sure that your site is as ready and complete as it can be on your launch day. To ensure that your site is as top-notch as possible post launch, we created this guide with helpful tips and reminders to help you keep your site as effective as possible.
Images
Whether you have a graphic-heavy site or not, it’s important that the images you use and upload to your site are a reasonable size to keep the site load time down.
- 5by5 compresses all the images on your site before your launch day
- Post launch, it is up to you to ensure that any new images you upload are at or less than 1MB in size
- To improve your SEO, we recommend giving your images meaningful ALT tag descriptions within the media library
Tip: Human faces usually garner best engagement. Use them when you can!
Videos
We recommend that you upload videos to third party services such as Youtube or Vimeo and then embed the videos on your site. If you prefer to upload video files to your site directly, we recommend compressing the video as much as possible or opt for only using short videos.
Fact: Youtube (owned by Google) is the second-most popular search engine in the world. That’s why you’ll see YouTube videos appear in over 70% of the top 100 search results listing!
Yoast Plugin
We activate the Yoast plugin on your site to enable you to manage your SEO content. You can find the general settings for this plugin by going to WP Admin > Yoast. Page-specific SEO settings, which we recommend editing anytime you create a new page & review your current pages, can be found towards the bottom of your pages through the WP Admin.

The plugin on your site is the free version.
SEO Maintenance
Keeping track of your SEO performance ensures you have an eye on any trends or issues as they develop. Staying on top of this will ensure your site sees growth over time!
Weekly Upkeep
Staying up to date on SEO news is an important part of SEO management. This ranges from critical alerts or changes to the Google Search Algorithm. It’s also important to stay up to date on the current SEO best practices as they may change.
Monthly Upkeep
We recommend running an SEO Report and site audit each month. This allows for enough data to view any trends or deviations in goals or metrics that warrant immediate action. You should also ensure that any changes to your website did not create errors such as duplicate content, duplicate tags, or missing page elements. Your monthly report should monitor the following:
- Traffic Changes
- Any site crawl issues
- Page speed and load metrics
- Broken Links and 404s
- Backlink traffic, toxicity and health
- Position tracking
- Competitor tracking
Tip: You can use tools such as SEMRush, Moz, Ubersuggest or Ahrefs to run these reports.
Yearly Upkeep
Time to get planning! Use this time to review your yearly performance and begin planning your goals and strategy for next year including content strategy, keyword research, and backlink building.
