NFLPA Debut Brand Event
The National Football League Players Association is the union for professional football players in the National Football League.
Story
In 2019, the NFL Draft took place in Nashville, Tennessee. Through a longstanding relationship with the VP of Player Services at the NFLPA, 5by5 partnered with the players’ organization to capitalize on this unique opportunity and host a one-of-a-kind workshop, equipping incoming players to manage their brands well as they move forward in their careers.
In today’s world, it is more important than ever for public figures to be intentional about the brand they establish, and if they can make these decisions and goals early in their careers, they can not only make a stronger impact but avoid many pitfalls along the way.
Goal
To use our expertise to equip young players with the knowledge and practical advice to steward their brand well from day one of their professional careers, as well as strengthen the relationship between the NFLPA and 5by5.
Results
Harnessing our expertise in marketing for personal brands and sports, 5by5 hosted 30 NFL draft prospects in our office and shared valuable insight and practical application on how to define a personal brand and maintain it well. The event also featured a panel of experienced and decorated NFL players who validated these principles by sharing their own stories, lessons learned and branding tips for the rookie players.
The event was a success on every level. Players were engaged in the content, and NFLPA leadership was extremely pleased with the experience, noting it “might have been the best thing we’ve done for our incoming rookies.”
