Lipscomb University is a faith-based, liberal arts institution dedicated to challenging students academically, spiritually and as global community citizens.
Lipscomb University came to 5by5 with a need to design compelling brand awareness ads with a quick turnaround, to be displayed prominently at the Nashville airport (BNA). With the ads, the client wanted to show the level of impact Lipscomb graduates have had on the Nashville area and Tennessee as a whole.

5by5’s design team met the client’s expedited deadline with eye-catching ads for three of Lipscomb’s programs: the college of education, college of engineering and school of hospitality and entertainment management. To be positioned on outdoor columns, display cases and lightboards at BNA, the ads highlighted the number of lives impacted each day via Lipscomb’s graduates.
We used the word “tenacity” as a focal point to encompass the spirit of the university and the dedication of its graduates to make a difference in the world. The design also featured strong numerical figures from actual statistics to bring attention to the real influence of Lipscomb alumni both locally and internationally.
Each school’s ad received its own set of uniquely designed iconography reflective of the field of study, which created an academic and technical, yet modern and fun feel. Finished off with a block-style text and a bright color palette, these ads brought attention to how Lipscomb University is shaping the next generation, intriguing prospective students and their families as they travel in and out of the city every day.
